Back in the 80's, I had one of those vehicles that was just plastered with Grateful Dead stickers. I thought it was really cool, and my car certainly fit in well at the concert venues. But I had MANY a time that I would get pulled over, and it was always "step out of the car, empty your pockets, where are the drugs?" Only got in trouble once, I guess I was lucky. These days it's a very simple Jerry Garcia silhouette sticker.

How about you folks? Is it still scary to wave that flag?

Too many sticker give johnny law a hard on, looking in your asstrey, under your seat cushion, up your dogs ass, etc.....

Mine sez "Insured by Trail", gets me through.

In NOR-CAL the 'Pandraggers" are different that SO-CAL/SAN JOSE STYLE, but can still piss'um of just as quickly.

I had a '67 Deluxe VW, dual wind-shield, barn doors and all. Very clean stock vehicle, decorated tastefully for the West Coast Tour........I miss her.

For a while I had a Egyptian "eye" sticker I got at a show in Charlotte, but in my later years I haven't put one on since. I do look for them on other cars and am tempted to track them down and find out what's playin on their car CD at the moment!

Three other slightly related observations to this thread...

About 10 years, ago I spotted a dark blue mustang with the SYF 2 inch sticker delicately placed in the rear window but, it was an unmarked SC Trooper....

Best/worst license: Black 70'ish Corvette, Florida plates..."LUDED" Hello! bust my ass! Gotta give 'em some credit for balls on that one...

Remember the "Mean People Suck" sticker?
Best retort I ever saw was a sticker on the back of a black Trans Am driven by an absolutely gorgeous girl in a tank top.. and the sticker simply read..."Nice People Swallow"

Ouch!

Jezuz--you are old. If I have my math right, you are at least two years older than I am. Geezer.

I never put a sticker on any car I owned. Back then, my hair was enough to keep the cops interested.

my ride w/o a headliner, perfect for placement, even glow-in-the-dark stars, moons, and anything else freaky. Hit the hill, recline the seats, star gaze, breakout the n2o bong, etc....but stack your keys just in case.

A decent-sized Stealie, driver's side, rear & a modest Freedom of Fuckin Speech sticker on the trunk lid for 2 vehicles running.

Po-lice generally had legitimate enough reasons for pulling me over, unfortunately...

I too had one of "those" vehicles - a 1971 VW bus and then, later, a Chevy blazer. Both were covered in stickers.
Today I work for my local municipal government and needless to say my flag doesn't fly too often. Most people who know me, know about my past adventures, but I don't shout it out. My hair is even short and I could even be described as clean-cut;-)
But I do have one of those small mettalic SYF's on my truck and my license plate is MINGLEWD. I actually bought the sticker inside a show and I feel it gives me some karmic protection.
Don't see many of those sticker covered vehicles anymore... Life is so gray sometimes.

Had a 91 Westfalia Vanagon for years. Last sticker it had was:
Lesh - Haynes '04
for a gov't groove

Current cars have Oregon Zoo Member and OPB Member (Oregon Public Broadcasting - NPR) window decals.

Lots of stickers on my beer fridge in my shop. Even a magnet of the 1 900 RUN DEAD. The picture looks like it was taken at Red Rocks.
